Sue's Story
I had been overweight/obese since the age of 16, yo-yo dieting constantly, and never being able to maintain a healthy weight, whatever diet I tried. After this photo, taken in 2004, I realised, as a Christian (in full-time ministry), that asking God to help me stick to my latest diet wasn’t enough. What I needed was to surrender my whole relationship with food to Him and to make Jesus the Lord of my eating behaviour.

It wasn't easy, but over the next 12 months, without dieting, I learnt so much: why I ate when I wasn't physically hungry; how to differentiate between physical and psychological hunger; how to listen to my body, and so much more. I learnt about nutrition and asked God to help me make wise yet satisfying choices.

2005:

By 2005, I had lost 55 pounds and began to share some of my insights with others. Then, the following year, Kingsway published my book: ‘How to Stop Dieting and Start Living.’ I was invited to share on BBC Songs of Praise and other Christian TV stations and held seminars at several national UK Christian conferences. By the time Kingsway had ceased publishing, my book had sold over 5,000 copies.

2025:

Fast forward to 2025, and I sensed that the Lord wanted to breathe new life into this ministry. The book has been updated in line with new advances in nutritional science, and is renamed ‘Weighting on God.’ God has been faithful, not only helping me to maintain a healthy weight, but also to remain free from any underlying health issues.
