Do you love your body?

I don’t mean the self-infatuation type of love that flaunts and poses all the time and is a form of idolatry.

I’m talking about a caring love of oneself, which Jesus was referring to when He admonished us to ‘Love our neighbour as ourselves.’

Paul reiterates this in Ephesians 5:29: ‘For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.

But the sad truth is that today, so many of us do hate our own flesh, including those of us with weight issues. We wish we were a different shape, a different height, had a different colour skin, and so forth, and in so doing, are we not saying to God, ‘You could have made a better job.’

Romans 9:20 says this: ‘But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is moulded say to its moulder, “Why have you made me like this?”

My friend, let me remind you today that you are God’s Masterpiece! You are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made.’ The body He has given you is perfect for His plan and purpose for your life.

He loves what He has made and wants you to feel the same, to be comfortable in your own skin.

Your negative self-image could be causing you to eat in a self-destructive manner, but no matter how out of shape you may feel about yourself, God is able to heal and restore.

Place yourself into His loving hands.

Trust Him.

Listen to His voice,

And let Him do a deep and lasting work within you – body, soul and spirit.

What He will do will far exceed all you could ask or think.
